Aussie Farmers invests in butter business

Franchise home delivery food business Aussie Farmers Direct is partnering with Organic Dairy Farmers of Australia in a $1.2 million butter manufacturing joint venture.

The new butter processing facility that will produce traditional and certified organic butter is part of an upgrade to the existing Aussie Farmers Dairy, located in Camperdown, Western Victoria, in Victoria’s dairy heartland.

As part of the joint venture, two different streams of butter production will take place. Aussie Farmers Direct will convert its own cream into Aussie Farmers Direct branded butter packs, and a certified organic butter will be produced using milk supplied by the 22 dairy farmers in the co-operative Organic Dairy Farmers of Australia.

Butter production at Aussie Farmers Dairy is expected to start before the end of June 2013 .

Peter Skene, CEO, Aussie Farmers Dairy, said “We are incredibly proud to be partnering with Organic Dairy Farmers of Australia – they’re a very special group of organic dairy farmers and we appreciate the quality of supply and the credibility and expertise they bring to this joint venture.”

Now in its seventh year of operation, Aussie Farmers Direct has re-invented the old fashioned ‘milko’ service and delivers Australian produce direct to the doors of 130,000 customers across six states.
