Cold Rock customer wins gold

It was second time lucky for Shepparton Cold Rock customer Karen Parsons who is the lucky recipient of a 24 carat gold bullion bar worth more than $10,000.

Single mum and Salvation Army administration officer, Parsons entered the ice cream franchise’s Unlock the Gold Rock competition twice and it was the second entry that saw her claim the prize.

The competition was held across Cold Rock’s 110-plus stores across Australia and saw customers receiving a coupon with a unique code when they purchased a Cold Rock product, which they then submitted in a special competition app on the franchise’s Facebook page.

“I thought it was a prank because I got a phone call from Cold Rock telling me I’d won right before my 40th birthday,” Parsons said.

“It’s not every day you win a block of gold just for eating ice cream so it’s very exciting. I’ll hold on to the bar and see what happens with the price of gold. It’ll be an investment for the boys for their tertiary education.”

Parsons received the gold bullion which is now expected to be worth over $10,500 due to the gold price movement, during a presentation by Cold Rock managing director Stan Gordon and store owner Laura de Wys at Cold Rock Shepparton earlier this week.
