An independent national price survey has listed Supa IGA in Rutherford, Hunter Valley, as one of the cheapest supermarkets in NSW. Serving up big savings, the large format supermarket has come out on top with the stateÍs second best prices for the basket of items studied, including popular everyday goods such as toilet paper, apples, lettuce, biscuits, coffee, washing powder, Milo, margarine, soap, nappies and cereal.
The Supa IGAÍs basket had a total price of $57.22, only 9 cents dearer than the stateÍs cheapest store in Blayney, where the same items cost $57.13.
Chairman of the IGA national board, Mick Daly said, ñWith the collective buying power of 1,270 stores nationwide, our Supa IGA supermarkets not only meet the needs of their local community but provide customers with a highly competitive offer to rival the national chainsî.
The survey, which was also looked at prices in other states, was conducted by Fairfax newspapers.
