Poolwerx has appointed Rod Young, who also chairs Cartridge World and Total Tools as its new chairman.

He will assist the pool and spa care franchise to achieve its 2020 vision, where it hopes to see 140 franchisees operate 350 retail stores and 1,000 mobile vans across the country, as well as increase turnover.

“Poolwerx has already created a fantastic value proposition for both consumers and franchise owners, so our task is accelerating growth through increased market share and maximising profitability,” Young said.

The business’s performance on a global scale was another factor that attracted him to the role.

“When I benchmark Poolwerx against other service and retail businesses, in terms of capital invested and return on investment Poolwerx is in the top 10 percent.”

Company CEO John O’Brien said Young, who has more than 25 years of franchising industry experience across both domestic and international markets, is the perfect fit to chair his Board of Directors.

“We have some ambitious goals requiring the best talent and guidance from the top, and we’re delighted to have someone as experienced as Rod to provide that leadership,” he said.

“Rod has been at the forefront of change in franchising and his insights will prove invaluable in gearing ourselves up ready for both domestic and international expansion, ensuring complete accountability along the way.”
