Perth grows franchise business

Potential franchisees are snapping up business opportunities in Perth according to some of the exhibitors at the recent two day Perth Franchising Expo.

Austway Vending, trading in Western Australia as WA Vending, now has seven Perth franchises with two new locations just signed up prior to the show. Luis Nevares told Franchising, “we don’t have exclusive territories but there is an urgency factor in signing up because the first in an area gets the advantage”.

One of the new franchisees was looking for a second income stream, the other wanting to start a new business after redundancy.

Shane Hodskiss of Aussie Farmers Direct, which is new to Western Australia, sold four territories just before the expo and has another four locations under consideration following the event.

“This has been the best expo we’ve ever had,” he told Franchising.

Ensuring the momentum is maintained following the expo, the master franchisees for Ovenclean in WA, Hilary and Phil Holliday, are organizing a seminar on May 26 for all expo visitors interested in finding out more about the franchise opportunity. The seminar is a way to ensure potential franchisees have relevant information quickly and are then able to progress with their purchasing decision, said Hilary.

The recent Franchisor Expansion Study conducted by 10 Thousand Feet, found more franchisors are now making a better effort to respond promptly to enquiries and initiate first interviews.
