Gourmet pizza franchise Pizza Capers has taken out the Rising Star Award at Queensland Business Review’s Q400 Awards.

Pizza Capers co-owner Scott Geiszler said the award acknowledged the immense growth rate of the business which moved from the 332nd spot on the Q400 list in 2006 to number 97 this year.

“It is fantastic to know we are one of Queensland’s largest businesses, it is what we strive to achieve and it’s great to be recognised for all our hard work,” he said. “We achieved a growth rate of 54 per cent in turnover in the 2007/2008 financial year thanks to the strength of our brand and the hard work of franchisees.

“The pizza industry is extremely competitive and this award is a clear indicator of the successful franchising model we have in place and the demand for our good quality, gourmet pizzas, pastas and salads.”

The Rising Star Award has capped off a successful year for the company which was ranked 16th fastest-growing franchise by revenue in BRW’s Fast Franchises 2008, fourth in the SmartCompany Awards 2008 and 73rd in BRW’s Fast 100 for 2008.

“Winning these awards has been a major accomplishment for us and it is a great honour to be acknowledged by our peers and business leaders.

“It’s a team effort though and congratulations are due to our staff and every member of our franchisee network as they have all contributed to our continued success,” said Geiszler.

The company plans a network of 49 stores by the end of the year, with expansion into New South Wales and Victoria.

“We want to cater to a wide range of customers and we will concentrate on introducing new menu items and providing innovative ideas as well as continuing to provide excellent service levels.”
