Sweet treat franchise Wendys engaged in what it calls a Random Act of Yum recently when team members paid a surprise visit to a CanTeen camp in South Australia to dish up ice cream to more than 90 young people.
The CanTeen organisation aims to support, develop and empower young people living with cancer, whether they have been diagnosed with the illness themselves or a family member. The camp provides a break from the day to day stress and challenge of living with cancer.
In 2011 Wendys signed up as a major national partner to CanTeen, and committed to contribure $150,000 to the organisation every three years.
Wendys CEO Rob McKay said “In addition to the support we provide…we like to get out and meet the extended CanTeen family whenever we can.
“It was great for our Random Act of Yum team to be able to provideĀ a brief distraction for those attending the CanTeen Winter program camp with a bit of fun and a yummy treat.”
- Part proceeds from sales of every scoop of Three Wishes ice cream are donated to CanTeen.
